And neuroscience. And language. I believe that psychologists are not the only people who understand emotions. Some of the world’s greatest leaders have stewed in the depth of emotion whilst making world-changing decisions. Some of the world’s greatest actors have plunged into the infinite abyss of their souls to deliver breathtaking performances. Some of the world’s most normal children can look at you and boldly say, “I feel sad.” I have nothing against psychologists or the field. What I’m hoping that happens is we recognize that at the core of human interaction is emotion and that a variety of fields contribute to our deeper understanding of who we are and how we engage with the world.
